Indian Navy Anti Piracy Operations in Focus

With the government coming under considerable pressure from families of the Indian merchant sailors who are under captivity and growing proximity of pirate mother ships near the Indian coast there was some movement to obtain release of victims of piracy off the Somali areas. In action taken so far, the Ministry of Defence outlined that as per International Maritime Bureau the number of ships hijacked from 14th January 2008 till 11th March 2011 is 174.
