Indian Navy: Stealth Capability Enhancements

The Indian Navy will induct the indigenously-manufactured "stealth'' frigate INS Shivalik in March-April first of the three multi-role Project-17 class of stealth frigates being built by Mazagon Docks Limited (MDL).'' said Navy's principal director (personnel services) Commodore Sunil Jetly. INS Shivalik is the first stealth frigate to be designed and manufactured in India, and will be followed by INS Satpura and INS Sahyadri in 2011-2012 under the Rs 8,101-crore Project-17 at MDL.
