Bangladesh: Internal Security Challenges

Bangladesh faces a series of internal security challenges as the Awami League government considered to be a liberal and in some ways a weak regime is seen to be dithering to tackle the spread of crime, extortion networks and contract manipulation involving many of the Party workers. However the more serious challenges arise from the challenges posed by the trials of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) mutineers, activities of banned outfits as the Hizb ut Tahrir and the trials of accused in the Banglabandhu murder case. Disbanding of the four battalions of the BDR involved in the mutiny is another key issue.
