International Relations Issues

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown phoned President Hamid Karzai and discussed with him holding of January 28, 2010 international conference and a follow up meet in Kabul on Afghanistan. The summit is designed to formulate plans for transferring power to and bolstering the power of local authorities. The 28 January conference in London is likely to be an important landmark to define levels of commitment of the Afghans as well as the international community in what is seen as a move to transfer power in the country.
