Dr Bajpai's Naxal Views Need A Review

Dr Kanti Bajpai a well known opinion maker in the country's perspective of Naxalism as an extension of People's War is rather surprising in "Naxalism faces serious hurdles that can be used against it".
Examined in the paradigm of Human Security or Fourth Generation wars it would be clearly evident that Naxalism is not a state threatening but a life threatening one for millions of people living in Central India, who may not be in the urban sanctuaries in other parts of the country. The lives of these is as important as the ones staying in Mumbai and Delhi. For them conditions are already those of People War howsomuch we may deny the same.

From his own war perspective, a rough count reveals that in 2009, there have been 1000 deaths in Naxal affected areas attributable to violence these by all international standards is a dire conflict situation.

"nalysts have documented in some detail the constraints facing the government: the countryside is vast; the forests help protect the militants; the adivasi population in particular supports them; the hit-and-run tactics of the Maoists keep the security forces off balance; the increasing unification of the various factions makes the movement formidable and not easy to divide and conquer; its access to money and guns is growing as is its political hold over sections of the population; and the government’s forces are poorly trained and equipped, and lacking in leadership."
