Nepal’s Seema Surksha Bal

A report in the Hindustan Times indicated that Nepal has agreed to Indian request of raising and deploying a Seema Surksha Bal on the Indo Nepal border. ( Hindustan Times. 8 March 2007). The report indicates that the force will be deployed in Nepal in 16 districts covering the entire 1868 km length of the Indo Nepal border. The Frontier force will enable effective checking of criminal activities along the open border which has other wise no restrictions on crossing by people of both the countries under the arrangements of the Indo Nepal Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1950.
